This present volume from Coyote Canyon Press republishes all three of Robert Frost's first collections originally published in the United States by Henry Holt and Company, New York. In 1913, Robert Frost published A BOY'S WILL, his first collection of poems, a series of sharply rendered scenes of New England rural life. A second volume, NORTH OF BOSTON, followed in 1914 and contained some of Frost's most brilliant and best-loved works "Mending Wall," "After Apple-Picking," "The Death of the Hired Man," "Home Burial," and "Birches." In 1916 Frost followed up these two volumes with MOUNTAIN INTERVAL, which included many of his most moving poems "An Old Man's Winter Night," "The Hill Wife," and "The Road Not Taken." The explanatory notes reveal Frost's complex relation to modern and classical poetic traditions, his knowledge of science and philosophy, and his tremendous ear for the rhythms of English, which enabled him to write the finest blank verse since Milton.

Poems of Robert Frost Large Collection includes A Boy Will North of Boston and Mountain Interval eBook Robert Frost

This is a collection of collections. It gathers the first three of Robert Frost’s books into one volume. “A Boy’s Will,” “North of Boston,” and “Mountain Interval” are all part of Frost’s early work and they came out in a relatively short span: 1913, 1914, and 1916, respectively. However, one can see definite shifts in the nature of the poems across these collections. The poems of the first collection feature many shorter poems that are rhymed and metered. The middle poems are longer, are largely unrhymed and of varied meter / unmetered, and are often written as extended dialogs that convey a story or a bit of tension from one. The last collection features Frost’s most famous poem, “The Road Not Taken,” and contains many poems that are similar to that one in that they have more of the lyric quality of “A Boy’s Will” but take the form of a short meditation.

The theme that cuts across these poems is rural New England life. Apple-picking, wall mending, visiting someone in a snowy scene-- these are the kind of events that transpire in this work. Nature features in Frost’s poems, but is largely secondary to the human element—a setting not a subject.

I enjoyed this collection, and would highly recommend it for poetry readers.

Poems of Robert Frost Large Collection includes A Boy Will North of Boston and Mountain Interval eBook Robert Frost Reviews

These poems are true Frost, but not as well written as some of his last. It is a very interesting book, however, and I enjoyed it very much.
You can't go wrong with Robert Frost. Wonderful poetry.
Every poem brings a piece of thought
I especially liked the full collection of early works. Some of those poems have a wealth of insight about a man growing in his perception of the world. The collection shows the growth and progression of his language. His popular poems are buried in the collections, ain't it if ten a surprise to discover even more effective poems surrounding those well established works.
This collection features Frost's early poems, so some of his later poems are missing. However, it is worth the buy. The price is cheap considering the amount of poetry that is included and the formatting is good.
Love this collection. Great inspiration to me as an amateur poet.
Robert Frost's poems are very engrossing. A small dose at a time will do.
